I know the allowed weights, but not sure of weight of van loaded yet. Went to Nutts Corners Weighbridge a few weeks ago and it was broke. Must go to another soon.

I was chatting to a friend about this recently and had noted down the info.

The official figures for ours are

MAW. 4250 KG
Payload 770 KG

We worked out

2x occupants 140 KG
Full tank of water 135 KG
Full tank of fuel 90 KG
2x 11KG gas bottles 47 KG

Total 435 KG
leaving 375 KG remaining for all the other stuff which I am happy with.

Even with a full tank of grey water (which we try not to do) we still should have around 290 KG
No bike rack
No ladder
No top box

The only true way is to take it to a weigh bridge. I got a big surprise with mine. With the combination of factory fitted extras, dealer fitted extras and the actual manufactured weight (which has a 5% tolerance for the manufacturer) it was in excess of 300kg above the published MIRO.

Just a bit of an opinion on the side.

If you have a MH with a GVW over 3.5t and not overloaded but you only have a car licence driving such a MH means you are driving a vehicle without a licence ............... BIG consequences

But, if your MH is rated at 3.5t or less and it is overloaded ............... you do have a licence to drive the vehicle, so no consequences there.
However, you can get done for operating a vehicle in an overloaded condition ................. consequences, but not as bad as driving without a licence.

Good point. It surprises me how many owners don't think of this when making their purchase.

The C1 licence thing has been discussed many time on here in the past.

I do think the dealers should make people more aware of the requirements for vans over 3500KG.

I still believe the C1 gives an entitlement to drive up to 7.5t. Is this wrong?

There was something on BBC radio yesterday about changing the 70 age renewal to 80, not sure if it is just talk or whether there is a firm proposal to change.

Well, if its ok to increase the pension age, its fine to increase the driving limitation age. Another case of the powers doing as they like, whether its in the interests of the populace or not.

Check your report from the test centre . It weighs each axel individually so it is simple maths to work out the running mass. I am just iinterested if people have compared their motorhome weight with thier driver's license . The B licence ( car licence) is only up to 3500 kg. This is the weight of the motorhome, the people in it and their stuff with full tanks and gas. In fairness it not a big problem at the moment but in the future it will be massive because in 2012 motorhome manufacturers became bodybuilder type approved which means that any revalant agency in the EU can simply check the manufacturer file online in real time.

The C1 class on driving licences has been discussed on here many times. If you use the search option you will see what I mean.

Most Motorhome owners are generally aware of the 3500KG thing but I still think dealers should make everyone aware proir to any purchase.

Noooooooooooo.
It matters not what it actually weighs. It's the vehicles GVW as stamped on the VIN plate which dictates the licence required. If that figure is over 3,500kg a C1 Licence is required.
