Great service from Avtex

My Avtex TV stopped working on 12 volt at the weekend. When I got home I tried the 240/12 volt lead which worked fine. The 12 volt power supply was fine, so it appeared to be a faulty lead.

The firm on eBay would charge £20 for a replacement but do not post to N. Ireland. Nothing new there then!!

I rang Avtex support and a very helpful person informed me that they could supply me with a replacement, but had I checked the fuse? I was not aware that the cigar plug held a fuse, a new one (5 amp) cost me 50p and had the TV working again.

Great service, especially since they did not make a transaction of any sort. Short term loss but I will not go past them when I need a replacement TV.

Sent a thank you e mail to Avtex, hope the person who helped me saw it.

Happy days Davy. It's nice when things go unexpectedly easily.

Davy,

I'd be wondering why the fuse had blown, if it blows again I'd investigate further,

It's very good when a company provide even phone support,

Hi mad max,

Yes you are absolutely correct. I bought a couple of fuses with that in mind. I am not very conversant with electrical systems, but I did notice in the plug which inserts into the television what looked like corrosion.

The plug, which is shielded by a collar has 4 pins ( bit like a DIN plug) at the base there appeared to be some tiny green spots not unlike the colour of corroded copper.

I gave them a good brushing with the wife's toothbrush! It was the handiest tool in the van, otherwise I would have had to walk into the garage for a proper brush.

Hope this solved the issue and I live to tell the tale.
