I finally made the move.

Still in the process of moving stuff over from the iphone to the new Sony phone. ByeBye Apple.

Painful but I hope it's worth it!

The proprietary "quick transfer" app didn't bring everything over.

The next step is to to try to convert my music over to android format...

Taking the good old rivalry aside, at this point you can't go wrong with either I think and it only comes down to a matter of preference.

To be an apple user you definitely want to be balls deep into their "ecosystem" as in, iTunes, Air Play, etc and have everything else apple. When you have everything apple it really works.

Android on the other hand is much more flexible and you don't tie yourself to a specific brand, and you can have your LG TV, Sonos Speakers and Sony phone and it will all work nicely together.

Welcome anyways... to the better side :D :D

Can anyone recommend a free app to transfer my songs over to android?

I thought I had it with Wondershare TunesGo, but I need to buy a €30 licence to allow me to transfer more than 10 songs... Grrr

You could just move them from you're phone's memory to an SD card in you're phone. then put the new SD card in the new phone you should be good to go.

Is it you're I Tunes Library you are trying to move,, are you using a Windows or Mac Computer ?.

I've never done it but this popped up on a quick google search, respectable website so it should work.

https://www.techadvisor.co.uk/…d-3493159/

Hope it helps.

Thanks. Yeah, that was the first one I tried. Just dragging across from PC to the new device.

It kinda worked, but after a few minutes I noticed the software that was converting the songs from AAC to MP3 didn't like a lot of the songs and was rejecting them. I gave up after about 10 in 30 songs were rejected.
Maybe it realised my taste in music was sh*t and it refused to help!

Try this...
1. Open I tunes on you’re computer
2. Click on I tunes Tab
3. then select Preferences new tab will open
4. Select Advanced
5. Make note of the **I Tunes media folder location** this is where all you’re music files will be located. You can copy & paste these to any where you like. They should all be in MP3 format.
6. Plug in your new phone as Mass Storage on the computer. or just copy them to an sd card.

N.B Forgot to say I use an app called Android file transfer for mac, should be similar for windows.. But Not needed if you use a SD Card and use it in the phone.

P.s Mine is mac but the windows version should be similar.
...

Lol Lol. My taste in music is probably as bad as yours

You know it makes sense :)

Recent programme on Radio 2, they had a guide on the best way to move from iPhone to Android as there was that many doing it, they said they don't expect to do one the other way around any time soon.

Having a foot in both camps with an iPhone and a Samsung Galaxy, one personal and one for work I have given up my iPhone. Not really given up as forced, the missus washed the iPhone last night in one of my jackets. It’s really clean but for some reason doesn’t work. I wont be going back to an iPhone but am looking at an Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. It’s reasonabky cheap and does what it says on the tin. I won’t be getting rid of my IPad anytime soon

I changed a full album at a time Kevin,
In itunes select the album and then convert it from 4ma or what ever the apple format is to mp3,
Create a seperate fime and drop the converted into it,
Bit slow but it worked for me👍

Be careful - not all apps work on all android phones - I have a Oneplus 3T (another Chinese phone like Xiaomi) - its a great phone , but apps like the fitbit app just don't work properly, there are so many flavours of Android, that developers can't cover them all.

Anyone know how to get my music from an iPod to iTunes on my new W10 PC? Music was on my old XP PC, there's about 1500 songs /tunes and I don't fancy reloading them disc by disc

Depends on the fitbit also, I have a oneplus5, had a oneplus2 and oneplus3 before that. My fitbit charge2 works with them all. It's a minefield :)

My Fitbit is a Charge HR, it just stopped working about a week ago or so, wouldn't sync. Tried a lot of remedies recommended on the Fitbit forums, such as stop battery optimiser on Fitbit app. Gave up. Also had problems with Satnav apps on the Oneplus as well. Never a dull moment. Still prefer Android 🇧🇭

Get in touch with Fitbit, they may offer an exchange, refund or upgrade to another model. They are very good with that.

I tried it on a qty of songs and it wasn't successful converting all of them. I need to go back and have another look later this week.

As a side note:

As I get used to changing from iPhone to Android... My son introduced me to Miracast over the weekend... Mind blown! At least now I can watch my MTOD shows on the living room tv instead of on my phone or small laptop!

You shouldn't need to convert them, just copy them. Android will play both Mp3 & M4p media files.

For some reason my songs weren't in a nice alphabetical list like yours. They were in separate folders. I need to see if theres' a way to separate them out without having to go through each folder and move each song manually. There's thousands of songs in hundreds of folders!

Not sure if it makes a difference but mine were listed as MPEG-4 Audio. I got a popup on my screen "recommending" they be converted to MP3 before moving them over to the android phone?

I'm not 100% savvy on computers as you've probably guessed

Further to my post of 16 April where I reported the demise of my iPhone when the missus washed it. A miracle it has come back to life. I plugged the charger in today and lo and behold it came back to life. So if your iPhone is dirty I recommend a 30 minute wash at 30 degrees, normal washing powder but no fabric softener
