Draughty cold front

Not sure if this has been talked about before but has anyone experienced the cold spot around the feet of the passenger in the front of the X250/X290 Ducato/Boxer/Relay cab? SWMBO who I must say is always cold was complaining about her feet being cold no matter what, being cured by the heat blasting around her feet and me suffocating with it. However I did a bit of research on the internet and it turns out there could be a possible cause and cure for it.

Apparently under the van on the passenger side if you crawl underneath and look up at the chassis, in line with the fuel filler there are two vents attached to the chassis and these are the problem. They are fitted to all vans as they are supposed to allow pressure relief when closing the doors on a bulk head fitted van. As the motorhomes dont have a bulk head and more vents than a leaking ship they are surplus to requirement and can be blocked off by either taping them up or fitting the appropriate part.

I did mine during the week and I have to say it seems to have made a bit of difference with no noticeable cold spot.

Thanks John, just found it on ours, although ours has 2 rubber flaps fitted to (supposedly) stop the cold air entering.

Where did you get the cover from?

Yes that's the part number, that's the fiat number but should be available Peugeot as well. Mine also had the rubber flaps as they are supposed to be a one way system but any sort of breeze and it would get in. Only downside is the cost of the panels, Donnellys got them in for me on a next day!!! Basis, I wasn't in a hurry but they thought I was so they cost £9 plus vat each, in the research I did they have been quoted as low as £3

The spaces for vents/plates are on both sides, the drivers side have the plates, passenger the vent.

It literally takes 30 seconds to do.

Not sure about the X230, the X250 and X290 do, it only takes a quick look to see the vent and then you will know.

I have a set, brand new in Wexford, free to anyone that wants to collect them. They were got by mistake, they are not for the model I have. I had a senior moment when the mat covered the vent blowing hot air to my feet😩

Hi, we are on the Hook peninsular, so where in Wexford are you, I may well be interested, currently sitting in our 2010 Ducato up at Donnagheys after a service and habitation check. We travel back tomorrow, so will have a look under the van when I get home and see if we need them. If you can wait I will look tomorrow afternoon. Many thanks.

My van is a 2004 fiat ducato base and there is nowhere for them so I doubt they will fit your 2003.
Tim I live in wexford but I don’t know if they are for an older or newer van than my 2004. I used the code on here to order them and then looked for where to put them, instead of looking first. Doh

Daffy Sparks, many thanks, just got back and crawled under the van, we have covers in place, though the one on the passenger side was half off, so i have clipped it back and funnily enough, no draught in the cab, so you have done me a favour, because i didnt know about this and would never have looked.
I'm sure someone will want them and thanks for hanging on.

Sorry for the confusion, my picture on post 21 shows an A-class design, there is no box around it, just a bit of metal with that in it, can see straight through.

So these are not needed on an A-Class. (I assume they are all the same?)

Err no, well i do but it must not be from them.

That is a flat piece of metal that I can see right through, get to both sides - it shouldn't even have those in it but they must come factory fitted.

The photo Ally put up shows one of the items which needs to be replaced. If you can access the rear of it like he did you don't need the plate.

On our van they are fitted to a box section where there is no way to get your hand behind like Ally was able to do.
Must be an A class or double floor thing.
