The more publicity the better. When I think the way Adria treated me there’s no comparison. When I hear Ally’s story it makes me thankful I bought an Adria. They could not do enough and quickly enough to solve my problem which was as major as Ally’s. Resulting in taking the van back to Slovenia. I take my hat off to Adria and their customer service. Ally go for it.

Just in from the NEC show............

Joking... but just in time for it - if you are looking at an Itineo from Dicksons of Perth, bear this in mind (sorry for the video being the wrong way around!)

My previous post on here was: 22.02.2018

Roll on to today 11/10/2018

Nothing from Dicksons of Perth or Itineo - basically they just don't give a sh*t. Horrendous customer service, horrendous attitude.

As I said previously in this topic, it will be better than new. After three people letting me down to fix it a Fabricator/welder/mechanic etc etc :) - started work on it today. He has great plans to make it far stronger than it was from the factory and put the bed back in.

Once you see Itineo's workmanship I doubt any of you would ever buy one. By the way it has started leaking again, we are 100% confident we can stop it leaking for good. Watch this space.

Now stripped back and some of Itineo's build quality on show.

No insulation above the cab area!!

This is where the leak happens on the roof, since it was last fixed it has deteriorated again.

Make sure you get plenty of photos of all aspects of the repairs, if you ate going to sell it.
For me I'd not mind something that was repaired so long as I could see the evidence.

It great to see that you are getting this fixed up but unfortunately at your own expense. There is some amount of sealant thrown onto that roof joint.
From looking at your photos, I am drawing a conclusion that there is a critical flaw in the design of the front section of the roof. There are no upright supports in your walls to stop the roof from swaying side to side. This side motion will cause the sealant to crack repeatedly which in your case allow water in.
I am wondering if the manufacturer was using the frame of the drop down bed for this purpose. If so, the bed frame was only attached to the inner decorative panel of the wall not the outer structural panel of the motorhome. The wall cavity would allow the side to side movement to continue.
Some of the deleted photos could back up my opinion.

Ally ,just a thought, How about making a GRP hood to finish, just above window line to cover the front end. It would require making a mold and maybe getting a boat builder to glass it up for you . Go well back and you will encapsulate all the bad joints.

I replaced them all yesterday, they should be there?

Engineer plans to weld brackets of the existing frame to hang the bed on. This should reinforce the whole frame. The bed screwed into the decorative wood, as you say, was just a completely daft idea.

I wonder should we also weld a bar from one side to the other? Reinforcing the whole structure even more.

I just wonder how many others have collapsed or are on the verge too.

Have considered that, thanks. We think we have another idea but we are going to put the frame in for the bed then strip all sealant etc back and take it from there.

"The bed screwed into the decorative wood, as you say, was just a completely daft idea. "

I wonder if the drop down bed was originally fitted as an offered added extra to a four berth van to make it a six for children ,it looks like something that was just stuck in on the basis that most of these overhead bed's are never used and great to have in case the Grand kids come to visit.
I might be wrong but I think most A class's are used by older couples who want the extra space to lounge in.
But it will definitely make anyone following this thread check how the drop down is fitted in there existing or new purchase.

I've had 3 A-classes, two Pilotes, the first two the front drop down bed was attached to a steel frame. I wrongly assumed Itineo would have a similar setup. I mean, who strips back the wood to check ? :/

Drop down beds are used a lot, they are a great setup in the fact that you can have a bed fully made up and it's ready to use.

Our Itineo is a 4 berth, including the drop down bed.

Well I suppose I’m older than some but also younger than some too.
But yes we wanted the extra space the a class gives.

I would be slow in making it too rigid, Motorhomes are constantly flexing while driving and while been blowing about in the wind,if you make one part rigid you could cause a crack someplace else that is flexing I would think.

Ally, those latest photos look like they were taken from inside a 15 or 20 year old vehicle.

Can you just remind us what age your Motorhome is, just in case I need help trying to decide where to make my next purchase.

It's a 2009 van, these problems started in 2015 and earlier before our ownership.

Van was purchased from Dicksons of Perth who never carried out a damp check, if they had, they would of known it was damp and suffering form the maunufacturers fault that Itineo choose to ignore.

I am thinking, for maximum effect.

I am putting this back into the public domain as the Itineo 740JB that we purchased, will be the best one made of that year once we are finished. As much shame I can put on Itineo & Dicksons of Perth the better.

In my opinion this is the storey that Dicksons of Perth hoped would go away, as someone who runs a business I cannot believe the arrogance of this company who never even tried to meet yourselves to discuss a way of correcting this massive problem.
Any new customers can only expect similar treatment which is not what anyone spending large amounts of hard earned cash should expect or deserve.

Wouldn't you just love to be able to afford a small stand just big enough to hold a 60-inch telly playing your story on a loop mounted in an unattended steel cage with a little webcam mounted to capture the reaction? :o

Sorry folks. Going back to my post, no 93, my recommendation was to increase the wall supports, not the roof supports. Side to side roof motion is only going to be stopped by increasing wall structure not roof supports.
If the roof cracks in a different spot, to be honest, I dont know.
With the current cracking means that the manufacturer probably didn't do a comprehensive wind tunnel experiment to highlight roof movement, a very expensive process.
If Ally can find a certify automotive engineer to back up my thoughts, Itineo are on a back foot. The engineer makes a complaint to the bodybuilding certification complainance organisation that Iteneo uses for their certification. In short this is known in as a CoC, certificate of comformity. If the complaint is up held, their business is held up until the marketplace recalls and repairs are completed.
I work at truck bodybuilding with auxiliary lifting equipment and we use NSAI certification as our European type approval for vehicle certification evary day of the week. If we f*** up and someone does prove that our goose is over cooked, we lose our license until a huge re approval process.
Here the Irish version of European Vehicle type approval process
https://www.nsai.ie/certificat…-approval/
The good news is that the Uk had been doing this for a few years before us but the process is based on historical designs.
Attack the European body type approval of the base vehicle CoC , I believe is the best way forward for you.

I have always said that any business can run when things are fine and dandy and customers are happy with a product/service that meets their expectations. The mark of a business is how it reacts when things go wrong, obviously they have gone very wrong, therefore, Itineo and Dicksons are to be avoided like the plague. Also, to all here, spread the word. No one deserves to be conned into buying such a high value item with no back up.
