Seems to be at Simons LTS place, Drumnabreeze Road. Not mobile homes.

PSNI Craigavon

Quote
Last night, our NIFRS colleagues alerted us to this blaze on Drumnabreeze Road, Magheralin.

Whilst initial indications were that this was an arson attack, at this stage we are still investigating whether it was started deliberately or not.

We had the phone call at just before midnight. If you were in the area any time after 11pm and you either have dash cam footage or saw anyone in the area, please call us immediately on 101. The incident number is 1466 of 28/01/18.

Around £ 1/2 MILLION worth of caravans and motorhomes were destroyed in this blaze, a significant loss to owners and business. If you know anything, please get in touch.

Whoever did this were right thugs, I believe there were 2 new vans being prepared for registration/pdi'd etc. and 13 in for annual hab checks , servicing etc. I understand that the workshop was relatively undamaged , but no-one could get access as it is a crime scene. Feel really sorry for Simon and his team, what a mess!! Mine was one of the new ones. Bit of a shock. Trying to source an alternative, but maybe not meant to get it 😩

Absolutely shocking,

Especially seeing it was an arson attack, but just think how vulnerable we are sleeping in our Motorhomes at the like of Cowboys & Hero' or some of those French Aires where Motorhomes are parked on top of each other, seen only one was set on light at Simons.

Hard to imagine that Simon was the intended target if it was malicious. A more decent, helpful person you could not meet. I hope this does not impact too much on his business. I am given to understand that the workshops were not damaged, but inaccessible until the fire service/police finish their investigations.

What a horrible thing to happen to all involved, Simon, the van and caravan owners. Regardless of whether the culprits are caught or not, the impact on the business and the mental strain of not knowing why or who caused this must be very hard to bear.
Positive vibes being sent their way.

I collected our MH from a dealer this week after a habitation check and a small damage repair. This dealer cannot sleep at night because of what happened to LTS. It just show how a senseless act against one small business affects many more by stress.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. David at Thompson's has been working with Rapido to source an alternative. There is one of similar spec due for an English dealer and they have agreed to let us have it. Hopefully get it delivered to Northern Ireland before the end of Feb. Spoke to Simon on Friday , he sounded positive but still shocked at events , he said he will get the extras sorted so hopefully we can make the ferry for the end of March. It shows how quickly fire can spread when parked close together. We haven't been affected too much, just a bit of a delay, I feel sorry for those whose vans were in for servicing or hab check, probably containing some personal items, now the discussion starts with insurance companies.

My heart goes out to Simon as he is a hard working honest guy and these thugs in a few seconds try to ruin his hard work over the years. If they are caught there will be some sob story and they will get off. It makes me so angry.

It seems to me, these days to plead to be cheated by life is more plausible than to get off your lazy ass, is the prefect excuse. Admin, please delete if my comment could led to a criminal case.

There is word going around that the PSNI now don't think it was arson that one of the vans started it.
I spoke to an owner whose 2017 was in for a Hab check and was lost, they are in the process of getting a 2018 replacement, they have gone trough their own insurance and have had to add money because there was only one 17 available in the county, at stupid money.
They have not received any information as to what exactly happened.

No firm news on what happened. Like Sprinter said , I was told it may have not been arson, but I don't think the PSNI have definitely decided the cause. I was at LTS a couple of weeks ago, they are back up and working again, but were not allowed to move the damaged vehicles at that stage. I still don't have a replacement through, it was supposed to have been leaving the factory on 28th Feb and delivered through Dubln shortly after , but because of the weather I haven't checked if it was completed. It wasn't exactly the same spec , so will end up costing a bit more, but LTS are going to redo all the work that they had completed. It had been waiting on Rapido to send a simple bed bracket, probably cost a couple of pounds, now a total loss. Hopefully will be back on the road towards the end of March, my first trip out in it could be to Spain, just hope everything works!!
