Snobbery

When we first started motorhoming many years ago we joined two of the main clubs and found that as a non ‘tugger ‘ one of those clubs definitely looked down on us. I suspect it was because we had an old VW hippy bus and did not fit the scene. The other club was very welcoming and someone would always come over and have a chat about the VW and get to know us. Over the years as we progressed and could afford newer MHs we found that were accepted better. As a newbie to this forum there does not appear to be any of that snobbery, just people that are interested in that way of life. We have a busy life/work/family schedule and can’t wait to fit in one of the craic meets

There can be a little jealousy of someone's new shinny motorhome but on here everyone is welcome and you will usually find a kettle on the boil in most vans ready for a cuppa

There is no snobbery here. I think the dawn of the new millennium killed off that emotion. As the FC says, the green eyed monster shows up now and again.

Definitely a real community attitude at MHC- and as newbies a couple of years back, the help and advice was hugely appreciated!!

I have no time for snobbery, none whatsoever. In fact I would get quite angry at snobbery, everyone is equal.

Don't look down on someone unless you are helping them up.

Very well put Ally ,this forum is very much unlike some of the club's out there where it is a case of keeping up with the jones.
We are all people who just want to go out and enjoy what spare time we have, enjoy each others company and have a laugh.

Same here Ally, I must say that I have been involved with MHC now from nearly the start and can honestly say that I have never been snubbed by anyone involved with the site or at any meet from our first at Shanogue house to the last one in Kilfinane at the weekend and I can say the same for our involvement with the Phoenix Motorhome Club. The only time we were snubbed was while filling our Motorhome with water at a service point in France in 2011 when Three fairly new Irish Motorhomes with tag axles pulled in behind us, I remember at least one had a LS reg, the men were absolute Pr**ks, the women were nice enough, I remember Maria saying to me that she wouldn't fancy joining what ever Club they were in and at least we own our van , I wonder if they own theirs?

I haven't encountered any snobbery, and have been made more than welcome at craic meets.
I drive a little fishing waggon and it makes everyone green with envy, I know that they all want one lol. I agree with eirebus size doesn't matter it's how you use it.{talking about the van of course lol}

You'll find tools everywhere, that's for sure.

But yeah, as a newbie both to MHoming and the Craic, I've to say that I couldn't have been more welcomed in both.

Very close to the boating community which is where I come from, but even easier going.

MHC folk has never, in my opinion been in any way snobby...... I’ve had nothing but help and assistance here from members and reccomend it to people seeking assistance and a solid knowledge base...... The craic meets are just that.... craic !...
Thanks to everyone for making this the best forum bar none, that can’t be said of other forums and for that I’m grateful.
Keep up the good work folks, this forum is great for a few reasons ....YOU 😀😀 being the main one.

Been to 3 meets and have to agree with all the comments.
But I have found one club like Motorhome craic that has no snobbery ICCC.
Cant say the same about some others .
