To be honest......
I’ve seen much worse in Donegal when no weather warnings were issued.......
But.... it’s been bad further south, thoughts with the families of the deceased.

Same here. I'm in Co Antrim, by 3pm it was as still as anything here.

At 4pm I was so bored I took my daughter to Tesco. It was breezy then but nothing like I was expecting. Things died down, then a couple of hours ago I'd the living room windows open watching the tree in our garden blowing a bit. Nothing to get worried about.

Now it's all calm again. I guess we were the lucky ones this time round.

My kids were off school today but I'm shocked they are also off tomorrow. I remember as a kid, having to make it to school in much worse conditions.

Mentioned earlier we were picking up our motorhome this morning before anticipated storm, just past Bray and Sprinter asked me who is our mechanic.
It is Pat Driver in Kilmacanogue ( laneway on opposite side of N11 to Avoca Handweavers entrance.
He has done the service but our tyres are ordered from Brady’s in Arklow, but they wont be in for another 10 days.

Storm was at its worst as we know on the West Coast, Wasn't the worst I ever saw here in Wicklow Town. We did lose power for a couple of hours so ended up in the camper.

Was rough enough in Wexford. The general storm was no worse than I have seen before, but the gusts were a lot stronger. Lots of people without power and lots of trees down. Not much rain though, which makes it seem less fierce

I would agree with Daffysparks. The gusts were fairly bad here is Laois but if the driving rain that usually comes with an Atlantic storm had came yesterday , it would have been very different day.
On a brighter note, I have no leaves to sweep up now as they are gone.

And theres another storm coming behind it (Storm Brian). Not near as bad as Ophilia, but probably another sh*t weekend none the less.

I did the same. Anything not tied down outside got put in the shed.

I serviced our oul generator and picked up a couple of jerrycans of petrol just in case we get an extended power cut. When we built the house, I got the electrician to wire in a changeover switch for a generator so we can run the house on 4kv if we limit our use. Best €100 I ever spent when it comes to times like these.

Lets hope it's not as bad as they're speculating...

Same as that Kevin as we are prone to power cuts,
I found that her self had difficulty starting the genny if i wasnt home
So i invested in a key start 8kva diesel,
I piped the exhaust through the wall of the shed so it stays in out of the weather whilst doing its job,

5 gallon drum of green diesel sits beside it, and the change over switch is very handy,

I can tell ya this came in very handy today as our power went in the early hours (i was snooring when it went) of this morning and is still not back on,

Glad to have it i can tell ya as the neighbours have lost a fridge of food and no heating all day,
