Hi All,
I was just out in the camper and there is something that I have been glancing at since we got it and keep wanting to find out what it’s for.

Theres a second cigarette/power socket in the cab and says ‘Max 180W’.
What is this used for ???
(Sorry if this is a silly question, but need to find out!)

It's a 12V power outlet just like the Cigarette lighter. Handy if the other one is being used to charge a phone, sat nav. etc.
Can be used to power up any 12V device, up to 180Watts of power (or drawing 15A DC current), e.g. Phone charger, !2Volt TV, DVD player etc. or
Small 12v to 220V Inverter to power up very low powered mains devices.

If the second cig lighter type socket is located in the cab area it is most likely conected to the engine battery.
The 180 watt limit is to warn folks from plugging in too many devices and flatting the engine battery.

Thanks Malcolm, good to know for battery management.
I do a lot of off grid camping.

A little know how and it not rocket science to change those cig lighter sockets to the leisure battery and save the engine battery. There are load of people here to advise you.

Thanks but I'll stick with what I've got, as long as I know what's powering what, I'll do ok.

Those second sockets are usually ignition controlled. Changing the power source to the leisure battery means it can be used without turning on the ignition and using power from the engine battery.
