Heading off Friday morning for some retail therapy at the Kildare Shopping Village. Does anyone know if you have a meal and few drinks at the Gandon Hotel can you park in the car park over night?

You certainly can but give them a ring beforehand. In recent months it has became a popular venue for teenage discos. Since it is nearly 3 decades since I became a teenager, I wouldn’t know when the next one is on.
Alternatively 5 minutes down the road is Tracys pub and restaurant, owned by the same family as the Gandon, and is MH friendly.
Malcolm.
Ps if heading to Kildare village, aim for the overflow parkcar on the Monasterevin road as I reckon it's more MH friendly and is linked with a shuttle bus.

Jack, don't be buying fuel at the Gandon service station. That's where I stopped on my way to France and had an engine management light on (and drop in power). It only passed when I filled again with French stuff.

Might be a coincidence, but it's the only ever time I've had problems in many diesel vehicles.

Kildare Village will be manic, I was there last weekend. If you exit at J12 and go through Kildare town it was much handier. There's a park and ride 800m beyond the Tesco with grand safe parking and a shuttle bus every few minutes and security staff on site. I stayed put and had lunch while the ladies shopped

Malcolm, is Tracy’s Pub further on from the hotel or nearer the motorway?

Jack the traffic is bad at the moment around K Village leave motorway at J 12 and drive through Kildare town towards Monasterevin , dont take left turn after Tesco but keep going towards Monasterevin ,Park and Ride signposted on your right as Malcome has said, there are queues all along the motorway for J 13 and village carparks full OR you could overnight at the Gandon and hit the Village first thing Sat morning should be no problem then I think it opens at 8 am  Happy shopping >_<

Traceys is further along the same rd as Gandon

Jack The Gandon Inn is about 6 miles from Portlaoise whie Tracys bar is about 3 miles from Portlaoise. From Kildare town to The Gandon Inn is about 15 minutes .

Liz had a great afternoon at the Kildare Shopping Village. They don’t allow motorhomes to stay over night. We went out to Tracy’s Pub and wow! What a place and very welcoming to motorhomes. We even have electricity and had a super meal and a few nice Guinness. Not to mention the Irish Whiskey 🥃 and all very reasonably priced. I’m not sure if this place is on the map but if not it should be?

I heard nothing all night but maybe if you are a light sleeper you would hear the motorway traffic. It’s an ideal place and great food and drink at a reasonable price.

Jack maybe the Guinness and Irish Whiskey helped to guarantee you a good nights sleep ;-)
