Restocking trip

We were chatting here last night about the need to restock our house for xmas. This lead to a debate about, should we head north and see if the sterling you give us better value or do we trawl the supermarkets down here and pick up the "special offers"?
The present shopping side of things is nearly done, so really it all the consumables that are not friendly on our waist line, if you get my drift.

Considering you get roughly €1.10 to £1, have a look at both tesco and Asda web sites for the consumables and see if it’s worth it

I think it might be worth it if your treating it as a shopping trip AND an afternoon out n about snooping. Coffee and a nice lunch with a leisurely stroll about thrown in. A direct shopping trip up and immediately back is a bit military in my experience.

Malcolm, one of the papers did a price comparison recently - and there was up to €8 savings on the likes of a box of carlsberg from heading north! Definitely something to be said for it!

I once heard that the nordy 3.8% 440ml Carlsberg isnt the same as our 4.3% 500ml Carlsberg😆.
My solution was just drink more to make up the difference😊😊
Did I get that right Ally?

The way we look at a trip like that Malcolm is make a weekend out of it and what ever you buy is a bonus sort to speak

If your close enough head north, but you need to time it right. The exchange rate is up n down like a fiddlers elbow. One day 1 to 1 and the next day 1.10 to 1. On a recent trip I paid 32 euro for a bottle of Jamison ,north it was 27 quid. A pack of cigs 12 euro, same brand north, 8 quid. Loads more examples diesel n petrol etc. Overall probably worth the trip .

Tescos in the North have 25% off six or more bottles of wine. It won't last long.

Some interesting thoughts given here.
Herself dropped into the local Dunnes stores and got 2 crates of bud for €50 and when she was paying, she discovered that because she spent over €50,a €10 voucher was given to be redeemed next week.

I suppose keep it going until we get a bottle of Middleton special blend for free.
