Is it just me or are an awful lot of craicers into their motorbikes as well as Motorhomes. I thought I was in a small minority of people with a few motorbikes in the shed as well as having the motorhome. Is it a similar mentality thing. Anyone any ideas😳😳

theres two kinds of people in this world.... Those who are happy with a solely 'functional' vehicle (car) and those who want so much more!

I'm guilty of 1 MH and two bikes in the garage.... 😬 Used to be big into cars but they lost their charm after I counted up the monies that was burned up on tax insurance and fuel!!!!

One bike is being kept as a do'er upper! As I had absolutely run it into the ground (00 -R6) and the other is my commuter and pleasure (14 Honda 750) her good self has a car.... So I rock a lil Yaris when I need four wheels and a roof, but no kitchen 😆😂

When I had 3 I called them fast medium and slow. Now just fast and slow. I prefer the older carburetor type. Simpler for me. 01 American imported shadow ace 750 in great condition and my trusty zzr 1200. A love it or hate it looking bike and I love it to bits. Sold the Xj 900. Damn shaft drive kept you on your toes changing down if you weren’t in a straight line

Or if you were really really lucky, there's always secret Santa, who might just have a collection of bikes.

R1200GS and used to have an R6 in my stable but had to sell the later to buy the camper, hoping to get myself back in the Yamaha train with an MT09 next year :)

Definitely a mental thing, the speeds vary just a little bit. :D

When I sold the R6 and bought the MH I said that I went from my fastest most impractical vehicle to the slowest most practical one I've ever owned :D

I almost don't use the car at all now these days.

Cheers,
Rami

I have three bikes a Honda Vfr800 tec a Yamaha ttr250 and a KTM690 enduro.
I bought my motorhome with motorcycling in mind it's great to go to motorcycling events like Irish Road racing and some rounds of the British Super Bike,
I also do some off road events like the Paddy Dakar and the Taffy Dakar,
Last July I went to Bardonecchia in Italy for the KTM European Rally and done the Stella Alpine Rally as well while I was there, I carry the 690Ktm on the rear of the motorhome.

I have a few bikes as well. Currently riding a Triumph Sprint 1050 GT, and a GSXR 600. But have a few more in the garage with the Moho. Mostly older bikes, but some newer ones as well. In the middle of rebuilding my Africa Twin XRV 750 which will hopefully be finished soon, then it’s on to the Suzuki GS1000G.

I have a towbar mounted rack for the scooter, but really fancy the idea of being able to take my 1200 GSA away with me.

So I've just bought a single bike trailer for that purpose.

The downside is, it is in Liverpool.

So if any of you know anyone passing that way in a big van, let me know!

Tried Shipley website and got two quotes of £170 each. 😬

Now that looks the job for carrying a motorbike. I wonder would it take the 220 plus kg of my zzr 1200. Somehow I doubt it

Will that little trailer take on the mighty GS?? Man, I'll die of a heart attack if I can go on a trip with the van and the GS on the back!!!!

Definitely want to see if I can add a trailer hitch and have one of those racks to carry an enduro bike or a small 125, that would be amazing!!!

That is a fine looking trailer!

<Jealous>

The only trepidation I'd have with a bike trailer is security. I guess you could take it down off the trailer every night.

Otherwise it'd be awful easy to unhitch someones pride and joy from the back of their camper and tow it away. I'd want some serious car-to-trailer locks before I'd consider leaving my bike up on a trailer overnight.

If anyone here does tow a bike or ski behind their camper, what do you do for locking it at night?

I like the idea of a frame mounted platform on the back of the camper, but as you say, you couldn't fit a big cc bike on it.

I bought a car from a company in Liverpool on the Internet. They put it on the Belfast ferry and I collected it at the port. Unfortunately they arranged it all but it maybe worth a call to P&O, providing the previous owner would deliver it to the Port.

I tow a trailer with the bike on it to the continent and made a locking bracket for around the hitch with a high security padilock on it they would have to cut the draw bar off the trailer

Last year in France I saw a Guy's bike trailer ,he had two bars going trough the wheels ,( like extra long bolts ) an eye on one end padlocked down, also two piece's of box section connected on eye's each side on the front of the trailer ,when he parked he then padlocked them to two more eye's on the towbar about 600mm each side of the towbar , there was a also a regular tow hitch locking bracket . He unloaded the bike and secured the trailer in about 10min.

Hi Rami

yeah, the trailer has a payload of 240KG, so just about ok for a GS.

If you do decide to go down the road of a rack, give me a pm.

I've got one which easily carries my 125cc scooter. Had it in the Highlands and around France this past few months without problem.. It will be up for sale when the trailer arrives, as my wife tells me I have too many toys

NICE! I would definitely be interested in that, the problem is that my van doesn't have a trailer hitch and the actual frame is a few meters behind the end of the van. I would also have to take the bicycle rack... so I'll be a far bit away from being ready to purchase one I'd say :/
