Hi
very new to the scene, so new in fact I've not purchased a motorhome yet! The intention is to garner as much information from the boots on the ground (ie you guys) by browsing this site and asking questions / advice. The intention is to vist a dealer in October, make a final decision on model and extras, place an order and take delivery next spring. If anyone has experience of motorhoming with a wheelchair I would be very interested to hear from them. I have a family of five with one teenager in a w/chair so obviously it will have to be adapted (the motorhome not his wheelchair).

And come 2018 the plan is as many weekends away as possible and probably a three week trip to the UK to get started.

Welcome Owen.
Good luck with the MH purchase, I can't offer info on wheelchair accessible vehicles but I'm sure some members will.
Enjoy your stay and hopefully meet you on the road during 2018.

Welcome Owen best of luck with your search , keep us posted as to how you get on , I have a Pal who is also on the lookout for a wheelchair accessible motorhome , so far we have not come across anything with a wide door or some kind of lift step.

Welcome Owen and can i take it from your ordering schedule that you are buying new?If so then there are lots of choices for wheelchair access. You have come to the right place for info and lots of advice.
Good luck with your purchase and do not be afraid to ask questions as we all started at the same place.

Hi Owen,
Derek Walsh camper centre based in co Limerick have disability aid systems suitable for motorhomes. Since Dereks background was crash repairs and panel replacement for motorhomes ,I reckon it not rocket science for his company to fit a larger door to a motorhome. I think that its worth an enquiry.

Ps, they have been appointed agents for the piolet brand in Ireland.

Hi Thorn123
yep that's were I'm headed to in October. I had considered the Wildax who do a really nice adapted van but we are a family of 5 so it was not suitable. Everything else I saw only had the access issue resolved. I really need a hoist system inside the mh and seatbelts for 5. I hope to use an awning to relieve so pressure on space when stopped for a few nights in one place but also wanted to be able to sleep five inside when needed (eg one night stops, wild camping, bad weather).
