Chasing the sun in France

Arrived Sunday to heavy rain. Only stayed one day in Normandy and headed south. Now on Ile de Re. Some sun yesterday but more rain and forecast to be cloudy the rest of the week.

So decisions made. Med here we come. It looks good down there. I love the freedom of motorhoming.

Interesting to hear about the weather. We're leaving for Europe soon and keeping an eye on all things weather. It does look overcast in a lot of regions at the moment :( I guess southwards towards the med is a good bet. We have a provisional plan for Croatia but again, weather permitting !

Same as us last month. Arrived and drove to Gruissan by the following afternoon. Stayed in high 30s for two weeks before slowly heading north. Weather was very mixed across the rest of the country while we were down there.
Enjoy your trip.

We're heading for Cherbourg on Tuesday, heading to Amsterdam for work for a couple of days then south to the Med.. hope the crossing on Tuesday is kind, and the weather picks up, but either way at least it's still good to be on the road....

I am a fan of yr.no for weather reports whatever country we are in. I do the long term for various places and plan my route.
In Ireland It was very definitely mixed today!!! Driving back from Limerick to Dublin, blue skies one minute, torrential rain few minutes later.

Last year in I'le de Re (there 10 days till fuel strike over but weather good), headed to Dordogne, poured rain and no sign of improvement, only part that was decent was NW, so headed back up.

My friend away in MH in France and same comments as those above about weather, they headed to Med.

Amsterdam has an aire at northern bank of the river IJ, a few minutes walking from the free pedestrian/cyclist ferry to Central Station and town center.

Kevin, blue skies in the south of France, 24 degrees and just perfect. Some rain tomorrow but then back to sunshine. Supposed to be thunderstorms in La Rochelle, so glad we made the drive south.

We are in Toulouse and it's not great here. Heading further South today probably to the Montpellier area as the weather seems to be good there.

Sprinter, startered in an aires in Gruissan. It was a good location for the town. Now moved out to a site, cotes de roses closer to Narbonne Plaige. It's 3 star but has a pool and the beach is 10 mins walk. There is also another aires just up the road. Oh, and the sun is shining but expect a lot of wind.

I've been keeping an eye on European weather over the last few days and it looks very mixed everywhere !
Having said that, the French Cote d'Azur looks to be one of the better areas regarding the sun.

We made it all the way up to Oradour-sur-Glane. Rained most of the way but the sun shone for a tour of the village. Hard to take in what happened here 70 years ago.

Thanks sprinter and Suzie for the unexpected wine tasting in Cotes des Roses the other night. I'll put it down as a Craic meet. Great fun and enjoy the family in the next couple of days.

We just got back from France on Saturday, Spent 2 weeks down in Grussaint, Narbonne and at lake Etang de Berre just outside Marseille..... reason for being on the Cote D'Azur was the weather....Best place for sunshine the past couple of weeks...
