If it is a campsite beside a beach that you are looking for it will be difficult to find availability but you could try some of the lake side ones as they are often overlooked by most people. The ones that I regularly use are lough ree east outside Athlone or Lough Ennell outside Mullingar. Lough Ennell is especially safe for swimming as it is very shallow.
The motorhome parking app has loads of stop overs on the west coast .

Concur with Mad Max ..... lough Key is a good stop, but bank holiday weekend may be busy.
Great Segway tours available from the office beside lake if your kids are old enough......
Nice stop, been there a few times.

Hope you got away. We're on our first visit to Dromineer in the wagon. The kids are having a great time in the playground, sometimes the simple things are best. There's a nice barbecue area where we did a few burgers earlier. We're eyeing the local cafe for breakfast and if we decide to stay another night we'll probably watch the hurling in the whiskey still.

Enjoy Dromineer, if you are low on supplies, ring the gala in Ballycommon in the morning and they will deliver in the afternoon, minimum order € 10. Great food and a pint in whiskey still but if you're planning to watch the hurling, there's only one tv and not alot of seats

Ps there's a toilet dump as you enter the gents toilet, may need waterways ireland to open (available in whiskey still) but we were here 2 weeks ago and the lock was broken.

You could also check out the yacht club to the right of the marina at Dromineer. Might only be open if there is racing on, but club prices. They also have a campsite but again, not sure of the rules for admission.

The yacht club campsite is for members and visiting partakers in regatta and training exercises.

Thought that might be the case. Have stayed there at an event. Pity, they could make a fortune.
