I know some of you travel around Europe in the winter months.

We are considering a winter break, mid December to end January around France Spain & Portugal.

Any suggestions of best routes to be more sure of a bit of heat & sun?

We have All the Aires France & have just added the Spain & Portugal one.

Avoid using the passes over the Pyrenees as they will probably be snow covered, I would cross at Irun in the north west of Spain or La Jonquera in the east. Personally I would do the east and travel along the med coast as far as you want.

I'm away at the moment and don't have the time to respond in full, hopefully I will get some time when I return to the campsite next week.
Quick response; 6 or 7 weeks will be a restriction as to how much you can do.
France will be "closed and cold" in December and January so I would aim to cross through as quick as possible.
I have done the winter in Spain and Portugal for the last 3 years and will be doing the same again this year. So if I have not responded in more detail in a couple of weeks pm me and remind me and I can share some of my experiences.

Thanks for those tips guys & sorry for my late response.
I haven't been on the site for a few weeks due to a mad schedule.

John, we may take your advise via La Jonquera as we know that route & would be quarantined more heat & sunshine hopefully.
Maybe see you in Scarva.

Jamie, we would definately be interested in hearing some of your experiences if you have time.
We hope to tour around a bit of Ireland during the summer this year & your site is definately on our radar.
Is it advisable to book ahead? Probably be during July.

In July I would recommend booking ahead, we only have 20 pitches so it doesn't take a lot to go from quiet to empty.

Three years ago we did Rosslare Cherbourg then down to San Sebastian in December.
France was very cold and we used most of a bottle of LPG.
Later we did Portsmouth Bilbao and avoided France as there is not much doing.
