Hi lads,
I am just wondering is there any quiet spots to park overnight or for a weekend in Killaloe or Ballina on the river Shannon. Free would be brilliant but then a small charge wont break the bank. Many thanks Malcolm.

have a look at O,Brien's bridge co Clare there is a small car park on the riverside beside the tennis court.

I was there at the weekend, unfortunate not in the camper, there is a bollard reducing the with to two meters between the building and canal and there are "No overnight parking or camping" signs where motorhomes used to park.

The Bollard has always been there This is one of my Favourite spots
And i can get in and out with mine no problem but with the help of my
Navigator stayed there early December enroute to Killarney.
There is a Sunday market takes place in Car Park above here so leave b4
It Starts or wait till its over before leaving.One of the stallholders would usually
Let you know before its fully set up and open.Have never had a problem here
Takeaway called River Spice in Town is Unbelievable hope to get bk soon.
I'd be a bit more careful in a coach built with overhead protrusion but still doable
With mine I go in at Bollard angled to 1ocClock or so Navigator watches passenger
Side and I watch Bollard just take it slow and easy over small ramp.
Hope to get here soon again good spot Water and toilet closed to hand
And also Waterways Ireland Block facilitiesavailable close at hand.

Thanks lads. We intend to try it next weekend. We have done alot of lough Derg on the east side so time to progress to the west. So far Dromineer is the favourite but it is a bit too quiet at the moment. Again thanks for the help. Malcolm

When u go over the bridge from the ballina side, and turn right at far side, if you travel up that road past two mile gate, you will see a turn to left with a sign for a pub (dont know name of the pub), there is a pub/restaurant on that road that caters for campers. apparently last year they were putting down special area for them, dont know about facilities etc.

If it were me I would drive to enniscrone ...7 miles..and pull up beside the sea well down by the pier..I'm sure no one will bother you this time of year.

We were driving back from Anchorpoint's open day in October and came up through Portumna, we noticed about 3or 4 motor homes parked outside the castle. Looks like a good spot, on our list to check out some time

We were in Killaloe on wed night found the pub called the pipers inn which has facilities for motorhomes in a field at the side they also have a basic shower and two toilets, grey waste disposal, water tap and electric hook up €20 with ehu or €15 without. Ate in restaurant food was a amazing and very friendly staff.

As you go over the bridge from ballina to kilalloe turn right then go on down that road not sure how far and you come across a sign post for the pub with a motor home sign underneath, turn left here and it's up,the road in the right nice quiet spot and excellent food.

The pipers inn is in lovely spot, out the country on the scariff road. It has excellent food. Changed hands a few years ago and new owners welcome motor home users, at a price, but a handy place for a night and the food is very good there.

I was in Killaloe on Easter Monday and talking to a local publician, they said that there are whispers that the meeting of the waters parking spot may close to mh parking as waterways Ireland might designate the spot for parking of boat trailers etc.

We stayed on Sunday night last great spot ( two others , Tralee and Spain )
The area is being used for a Paddle Boarding outfit for the summer so you would need to get in later in the evening as it will be full of car's during their opening hours.

Saw them there on a recent pass through. They will be probably gone by September. There is a brilliant pint in The Anchor Inn on the corner of the bridge.
