hi all,
Myself and my wife are going to try out the Carlingford Marina Aire on Saturday 25th February for an overnighter.
Any members got any experience of it.

Yes.
Quite few of us have stopped there.
It is a simple parking (on gravel) area on the left of the drive to the marina carpark. You reverse in and have great views of the marina and beyond.
Our van is 7.4 metres long and I would suggest that is as long as you can be. If it isn't busy I am sure Johnny would be happy for you to park at an angle.

There are toilet and showers facilities in the main building. The Indian restaurant and bar are very nice with friendly staff.
We walked into town and if I remember correctly it is about 1 km.

We were there in October 16 and there was no fresh water supply or waste disposal but it was planned to be sorted.

Hi murphy59 yes have stayed loads great spot there's a walk which goes past the Mariana will take you into Meath great walk and bike ride to go into town it will only take you about 10 mins go round by the yacht club and see the leprechaun garden great little town would highly recommend it.as said before in this post the restaurant is great one takeout will feed 2 no probs staff are great toilets and showers spotless,they are hoping to get the black water and toilet point ready for the meet in march so don't know just how far they have got on with it

From memory it is about 5 or 6 km from the Marina to Omeath.

Just wondering why the signs have been taken down for the overnight motorhome stop over in carlingford ,was past there yesterday on the way back from a great weekend at lumpers.

Noticed that also, we were there Sunday night. The signs remain when you drive in so maybe they are just making new ones for the official launch.

I spoke to Johnny last week and he has no intention of installing electric hook up this year and maybe not at all.

Disappointing that there's no intention to provide EHU... We can manage fine without it but €10 to stay in a carpark is a little excessive, wouldn't mind paying €15 to park with EHU. I suppose our loss of the Four Seasons is the Marina's gain!

Nobody has a obligation to supply us with free parking yet some seem feel that once you buy a Motorhome then everything else should be free.
As for the loss of the Four Seasons then that was a place which was being abused by inconsiderate Motorhomers.

A car park with warm showers, toilets, fresh water, drive over drain, black water emptying. Safe off the main road parking, behind barriers, only a 1km walk into town. Beautiful views, hard standing, helpful staff, great walks, cabin that allows Motorhomers to congregate.

Not bad for €10 with all of the above included in price, I thought.

After athe last experance we had at the castle where kids got drunk and through a bottle which hit the screen of the Motorhome in front of us so for me spending 10 euro is better than £300-400 for a new screen and as the post before you have all the amenities

Ah ok. There were no facilities whatsoever when we stayed in February- not even a bin, hence my disappointment with having to pay €10, and also my carpark reference.

I took my motorhome out for its first decent run out today & went to Carlingford as it is not too far from me & ours be quiet on a weeks day. Parked in the corner under castle on the pier. Great day & got chatting to someone who knew of the anti social behaviour there a few weeks ago. Teenagers on the castle itself who tried to pull down the scaffolding, threw barriers down on to vehicles on the pier & set fire to bushes nearby - I noticed lots of areas of scorched bushes where they had started to burn them.

I was thinking to myself that would only happen at night & on a weekend and I heard a whack behind me & there were two teenagers on the castle at 5pm drinking. I was still talking to the local and he said it looked like they had thrown a bottle down and hit a boat in the harbour - well beyond my motorhome! I headed off after soon after that. The local said it is not anti social behaviour is not aimed at Motorhomes & they do like to see them. Real shame, seems to be local kids rather than weekend revellers. There were 4-5 other Motorhomes about but others were on the far pier or parked nearer to the centre of town.

I wouldn't park anywhere in Carlingford except the Aire, for €10 and piece of mind you can't beat it. Plus it needs our support.

Agreed, I was only stopping off for a couple of hours as were the others I saw in town as they were pretty much all gone by the time I was leaving. If staying overnight I would use the aire. I do live fairly nearby though..

Been going on for a long time, there are motorhomers on MHC that had their van damaged under the castle quite a number of years ago.

Stayed last Monday at Aire and have to agree with Ally it was well worth the 10 euro charge. It's safe parking with toilets and showers not to mention the Indian restaurant and bar in which I saved practically the fee with the discount card I was given. Well worth supporting this Aire.
