12v TV or Invertor?

 ·

Should I buy a new 12v TV to run off grid or buy an inverter instead?

If I go with the 12v TV option, what do Craicers recommend - cheap Cello or premium Avtex?

If I go with the inverter option, any recommendations as to what to get?

Thanks!

Personally I would recommend a 12volt TV and I find Walker's to be very good.

Walker and you get the 12v connection with it.

I would be of the same thinking as Ally, we have Cello and a Walker and find them fine provided you are looking straight at them, the picture is not as good on the walker if it is angled up or down from your line of vision though.

Don't find that at all, have heard that about the Cello though, strange, how old is your walker?

Bought the Walker for the Chausson on our way home from Vantastical 2014, The Cello was in the Knaus when we bought it. I got over the angle problem by mounting it on a ram bracket and adjusting the viewing angle.

Ours around the same age, maybe older. Can sit at any angle and it's fine.

I'd ageee with the 12V option if possible. The viewing angle is a function of the type of screen panel. Standard LCD screens typically have a pretty narrow viewing angle. Newer ones tend to have what's called an IPS panel. These have a much wider field of view. So if possible, check the spec of any set you are considering, you'd ideally want 12 V, (assuming you've a 12V outlet) and a viewing angle of at least 110degrees. The trouble with inverters is that the consume a lot of power (more than the device they are driving) and so can impact on the leisure battery. I think there's a whole thread about inverters in the technical forum if memory serves me....

12v tv, I have a Cello and no complaints about the picture. The sound can be a bit thin, but there again it's not going through a sound bar like at home

At the risk of hijacking this post - I have a small tv/DVD player in the house. On the box it says it can run on 12v. Do I need an adaptor and if so where do I get one?

What exactly does it say on the label fixed to the TV.

i assume you want to run it on 12 volts in the MH, not from 230 volts

Put the make and model number along with 12 volt plug into ebay. Lots of storefronts there to accommodate you

I have a 24inch 230v running on a 1000watt inverter it runs perfect no major draw on leisure battery and I am also running a 12v sat box. No problems at all.
