well another year and testing times again! brought the m/h for its test during the week and came away with a fail sheet. all in all nothing to serious two i should have noticed which were cv boots, one was gone the other i cant see anything wrong, small bit of surface rust on the rear of brake discs which the tester said the rsa have told them if there is rust to fail them, and a real harsh one, front shock cover worn! the bottom edge had a small tread like piece hanging down which can be just trimmed off, it took me several minutes to find that one! along with headlight focus and top marker light not working (or last year but never mentioned) it wast to bad really.

I'm having flashbacks to a post from last year that you wrote - after we'd gotten ours, and we're up next Friday! Not looking forward to it one bit 😩

Hopefully those few bits won't set you back too much!!

Bit odd rust on the brake discs and they fail if you park your car up for a few day rust will appear in the discs there aren't going to be to many cars on the road

best of luck getting it back in and through!!

Honestly not very optimistic myself... booked in, in Naas - the M7 commercials.

Hopped under it today and gave it a bit of a wire brushing.. and a poke around.

if you see a swarm of moths flying over north kildare in the next couple of weeks... its me having to open my wallet again

Had men in at the start of March, failed because the exhaust hanger was worn, and the reversing and fog lights not working. Changed the bulbs and the reversing light still didn't work. Brought it to Maynooth Motorhomes, Ger find it was a faulty switch on the gearbox, and replaced the hanger- brought it back to Noones in Maynooth for the test and it sailed it. So happy days, legal for another year.

On the RSA website you can download the offical tester manaul for free or for a small fee they will post it to you. It will give a list of all the components tested and also the tolerance of ware and tare allowed. It is a bit of a technical read but it has charts at the back to help a tester explain a failure. You will find it in the vechicle standards section on the rsa website.

Good luck! We know what it's like; we had our mechanics (and the AA) on speed dial for our first camper - 1968 T25. If the battery wasn't exploding under the driver's seat and cutting the electrics out, we were fighting with the gear stick or the rolling programme of rust repairs. Thankfully, the Granvia has only needed an annual trip to the garage for a service. Hoping the next camper serves us just as well! It's not a cheap way of life, but it is very much worth it!

Even with that Manuel you are at the mercy of the tester and the mood he is in, he might have had a dogs row with the wife that morning or won the lottery the day before

I have few friends who are vechicle tester and the one thing that pisses them off is when a vechicle is left in to be tested and no effort has been made for the test. At the end of the day a good service covers about 90% of test failures.
