When I was growing up we didn't have any electricity until I was about twelve years of age,we had to rely on tilly lamps and the house was piped for gas lights which were only in the kitchen living room and one bedroom. No tv no phone and the water supply had to be hand pumped from a local quarry.

My father in law used to say his dad pinched him 2 left shoes from the shops display stand, then beat the cr*p out of one of the to fit his right foot

When the soles wore through, he would re-sole it with a stale soda bread.

Yea tin bath hung on yard wall, outside loo, 2 up n 2 down house, Dad put his TA greatcoat over us in bed during winter. We knew it was summer when Dad white washed the outside walls and mum took our welli boots off and gave us a pair of jelly sandles.

Hard to believe but 60 would give you those memories , when we had to dig a hole in the road just to get out of the wind ,alot of those holes are still there today 😁

Street games with your friends, hopscotch, bouncing two balls off a wall and saying a rhyme (now kids bounce basketballs outside the house).
