Howth Parking

Heading to Howth on Saturday for an overnighter. After reading some of the posts here, the middle pier seems to be the spot to park.
I read about a barrier on the middle pier, but cant spot it on google earth.
Anyone got current info about Howth, best parking etc.

We haven't been for a while but the barrier is only preventing access o the end of the middle pier. Parking is still tolerated in the approach to it. If you are longer try to get parked on the left as the spaces on the right are shorter and you may block the pavement.

Heading to Howth tomorrow afternoon for the night. Haven't been since the height barriers were erected, it was a form favourite before that. Hoping it won't be too busy tomorrow!!

Had a lovely night there as always! There were about 10-12 motorhomes (and a caravan!) parked there on Saturday night. I'd say it will get busier in the middle pier when the weather gets better with the height barrier.
The Dog House Tearooms beside the Bloody Stream and Dart station is a great spot for casual and quirky dining. Even dogs are welcome! Nice pizzas, mussels, etc with BYOB (wine corkage €7.50 per bottle, Prosecco €10).

In Howth last Friday there was about 12 campers parked up . The match put a damper on the night.
Dunmore east Tuesday night in the upper car park ( barrier open ) one camper with a family and myself.
Galway Dock St Last night Two other campers . grand pub on the corner serving food not a ripoff .

At Howth this evening and it's a disaster. Two cars on the pier we used to park on and the rest of the place is packed with cars like sardines. We had to wait for over an hour to get a place for the Motorhome. There's quite a few motorhomes here but I think the locals are parking where motorhomes now park and making it more difficult. I'm not sure I'll bother coming back to Howth as I feel, there's a deliberate ploy to push motorhomes out.

Jack the bus strike might have something to do with that.

I don't blame them as there's an idiot in a Motorhome taking up 3 spaces on the other side from all the van parked long ways and I can't find him but when I do I will be saying something to him.

How many good times have you had there compared to one bad one? Even restaurants have a bad day it should not put you off giving it another chance.
At least it's a nice day!

Forgive him father, for he has sinned !

Still, no excuse for that behaviour.... it's a pity one can portray the rest in a bad light.

I live about 5kms from Howth. I used to go there quite often with camper, but I know this time of the year, particularly on weekends, just queuing in traffic to get to Howth, by car, is just not worth it. Naturally if traffic is that heavy it follows that parking is at a premium. Midweek is obviously more sedate, but still fairly busy.

Its not just motorhomes , a friend of ours spent over an Hour trying to get out of the same car park in a car two Sundays ago after Kayaking. It looks like they are manufacturing a complete motoring disaster out there, where a roundabout or a circular traffic flow with an exit at the toilet end is needed.

I was in Howth last Friday night. Arrived at 7.30-ish and there were about a dozen other motorhomes.
Slipped in with them and no bother. Only my 2nd ever wild camp, so to speak and we had no issues. I was worried as the kids had just finished school for Easter that day and I expected it to be busier.
