This might warrant a place of its own , but when stations supply fuel at reasonable prices we should give them a :up: :up:
Applegreen old Dublin road Nenagh diesel at 1,23.8 euro ( 11 min further then Barack Obama Plaza,and 4 cent cheaper ) :up:
Esso E30@N25 diesel at 1.23.9.euro. self service debit card pumps at the junction of the N25 / N72 before Dungarven :up:

I find the applegreen website quite good.

If you select a location (perhaps where you live or are travelling to) it shows the applegreen price and other outlets local to the selected applegreen. The comparison prices are usually fairly up to date.

The problem I have with them all is why 129.80 in Rathnew . the reason is that they are RIPPING us off.

Slightly off topic but I have a Nissan x-trail that doesn't like supermarket fuel. It seems to cause the DPF filter to clog up. I always pay a few pence more per litre for Texaco, etc.

Should I be worried about the same problem with a fiat ducato engine in later life.

I find that there is a bjg difference in MPG with different brands of Diesel and the cheapest is not always the best value for money especially if poor grade Fuel causes damage to your vehicle.

I always use BP Ultimate Diesel and even though it's more expensive it is cheaper in the endas I get more MPG.

Always arguments for and arguments against, but I wouldn't put supermarket diesel near my van and that includes Apple Green fuel when it can be avoided.

I try to always use, Topaz or BP

I am the same.
Never put supermarket fuel into any vehicle.
A friend of mine has a few vans on the road and was told by the dealer they wouldn't stand over fuel filters if he used supermarket fuel. They names one in particular as being the worst.
BP if I can get it where I am.

I am of the opinion that the grade / quality or volume of fuel sold, has nothing to do with price , The greed of the supplier is first and location is Second.customer support / loyalty is around 99.

Local filling station changed to Applegreen about 6 months ago, always a few cents cheaper than others around.After a while the car started to stutter intermittentantly, when I filled in Topax, the problem seemed to go away. Ended up having to replace the erg valve 🇧🇭

I was told that all diesel comes out of the same bulk tanks at the ports, in the south anyway.

That is correct, however the product you buy at the pump is not necessarily the same. There are several locations for storage tankage throughout Ireland and each of them buy their 'raw' diesel from a variety of sources. While each of the oil companies in a particular area use the same raw product from their local storage facility the difference is in what additives are used. Some companies do not use any additive while others use additives (additives may be different or used in different doses from company to company).

In NI there are 4 storage facilities; LCC in Maydown, DCC/Emo Oil in Belfast, Nustar in Belfast and Puma Energy (bought from BP last November) in Belfast. The vast majority of diesel that you purchase in NI, Donegal and Sligo and some other border areas comes from one these.

From my experience (now a few years out of date) BP used an additive in all diesel with a higher dosage in Ultimate.

Our local filling station is offering derv at the same price as Asda and that's Eurospar, but I always fill up in the south on my way home, just put 50 euro into it at omeath last week will top it up at eurospar before we head of again

D4 Fuels this morning 1.21.6 euro Always a queue of Taxis ( and you know how those guys can complain if there was a problem )

If you drive past the depot on Airport Road in Belfast, you will see Texaco, Topaz, Tesco tankers queuing up to fill up. 1 behind the other.

Given the extent of fuel laundering, particularly diesel, over the last 20 or so years I made it a point to buy my fuel from supermarkets. If my memory is right it was thought that up to 60% of filling stations in the North supplied laundered fuel to some extent. I was fortunate to be a mile from the Downpatrick ASDA and filled almost exclusively there. I held about 6 years credit card receipts which could have substantiated my case if any of our vehicles had suffered problems.

Until recently I would try to use applegreen in the south for similar reasons, although I am not sure if they are now franchising to privately owned stations. Given the addition of ethanol? To petrol in quite rural parts of the west of Ireland, I am trying to use reputable suppliers.

Both ASDA and Applegreen also generally offer the most competitive prices which is a bonus. As to the mpg debate, it is a continual claim and counter claim which I stand aside from unless you use the more expensive 'ultimate' BP fuel or similar which I would like to think would give a better result given the premium price differential.

As a rule I only fill my car or van when very low sometimes only Fume's left, I always get a vat receipt on which I put the milage as prove in case I have to take any action against the supplier. The visor full of them.

I always use BP Ultimate diesel or petrol of course depending on what the vehicle uses.

Apple green Enfield is always good value and the station in the middle of the village is now keeping up, so Enfield's not a bad place to fill up.
