Still, clever one. I never would have thought of that trick. Why not 2 pieces of wood on the wheel as
a further development???

I carry snow chains. I have used them in snow but never in a muddy field. If it was dug in deep they would be hard to get on and can’t imagine the mess to get them off

I tried snow chains once on a car in a field just to see what would happen. For the chains to work a speed of 15 mph was needed to keep the chains clean of mud. Under that speed the chains just caked mud and there was no traction. After half cooking the clutch in order to build up the speed one chain snagged on a stone, broke and then ripped the inner liner out of the mudguard. But then that was 25 years ago when I had to only shave monthly.

Wait... so I'm not supposed to do offroad with a 3.5ton front wheel drive underpowered naturally aspirated diesel engine????

If only I knew that before!!

It looked very solid in my defense... wasn't. :P

Got bogged down on a beach in Portugal about 30 years ago. I spotted a 4 x 4 in the distance and wandered over to see if they could tow me out. When I returned a group of nudists (honestly) had helped the wife and 2 kids dig the sand away from the wheels, put in stones and bits of wood to give me purchase. With the 4 x 4 pulling and the nudists pushing we were extracted.
